Muhammad Bekjanov, a journalist and an activist from the Central Asian Republic of Uzbekistan has been released after 18 years of imprisonment.

Report has it that Bekjanov was imprisoned for an alleged attempt to kill the late president Islam Karimov but he later confessed that he was tortured into confessing to fabricate charges.
